No child shall be allowed to attend the center in the
event of weeping or bloody skin, mouth sores that cannot be covered or
controlled, bloody diarrhea, and/or biting of an unusual frequency. These restrictions will hold for any child in
an early childhood setting, regardless of his or her blood born diseases. The following is a summary of our health policy:
- The Health Care Policies are available upon
request in the director’s office
All children shall be immunized, lead screened
and have an up dated physical exam prior enrollment.
- Emergency phone numbers and contacts must be on
file with the center’s director, and updated by the parent’s as needed.
- No child who has a communicable disease will be
allowed into the center without written permission from a doctor with his
signature.
- The Step Forward Learning Center will notify you
immediately of any injury, which requires emergency care. We will notify you in writing 24 hours, if
any first aid is administered to your child.
- Medication will not be given to children unless
the child’s physician has signed the Medication Form or if the prescription is
located on the bottle with the physician name and phone number and the
medication form is filled out by the parent and signed and date by the parent.

- Parents will make aware of any illness that the
child may have prior to entrance each day.
- The director and staff must be notified of a
child having any allergies. Chronic
illnesses will be noted in the child’s file, brought up at staff meetings and
posted in the lunch room covered to protect confidentiality.
- Every parent is responsible for supplying
required medications and keeps them up to date.
- Prescribed and non-prescribed medication will be
given by a qualified teacher only if medication is in its original container,
dated and with child’s name on it.
Before giving medication to any child our medication consent form should
be filled. Over
the counter medications will not be given to the children unless specified by
the child’s physician, with signature and date.
- No staff shall administer the first dose of any
medication to a child, except under extraordinary circumstances and with
parental consent.
- If a child has asthma or any allergies or any
chronic illnesses must fill an individual health care plan.
